SUMMER 2024:
Just got back from our FIRST Baja Missions summer build trip! Thanks to your generous support, Baja Missions was able to join our local partners and church plant, Comunidad Encuentro, to bless the Tenorio & Galicia families, an extended Mixteco (indigenous Mexican) family:
✅ Number of volunteers: 15, with 2 age 17, 5 over age 45, and 3 first timers
✅ Days of building: 3
✅ Number of houses built: 2
✅ Number of children that will no longer be sleeping on dirt floors: 5
✅ Number of previous home build and/or scholarship recipients who volunteered to help with this build: 5, from middle school to adult

The Tenorio & Galicia families, with children aged 2 to 15 and no active fathers, have never attended school or done any work aside from the fields. Despite language barriers and not having any experience, they put in sweat equity by helping frame, paint, insulate, drywall, and seal their future houses.
Last winter, Baja Missions built a house for Pastor Soccoro and began scholarshipping her son, Mateo. Last week, Pastor Soccoro and Mateo not only volunteered with the house build, Pastor Soccoro helped dedicate the house for God, praying a special blessing to Baja Missions, Comunidad Encuentro, and the Tenorio & Galicia families.
Baja Missions met with BajaEd Director Selene and current scholarship recipient and nursing student Lupita, learning how BajaEd programs impact not just an individual's life trajectory, but the entire community for generations out of the cycle of poverty. Baja Missions has been the top supporter for BajaEd, donating $85k in scholarships for 168 students the past 4 years, graduating a doctor, lawyer, nurses, teachers, bookkeepers, and other professionals.
